We can’t blame it on the genes anymore. That line has been exhausted many times over and our ancestors weren’t really that big. The underlying reason for our increasing number of overweight people is because of negligence to follow proper dieting.

More and more health problems arise because we adapted a junk food culture. Believe it or not, we have put fast food on top of our dietary pyramids. And the irony is, fast food is primarily junk food. We have adapted a liking to it over home cooked meals. Perhaps it’s just our busy schedules, or perhaps we simply love fast food because of its addictive components such as cheese, preservatives, and sweets.

Our society is losing track on what a healthy diet is all about. With all the hype on healthy living and weight loss, it seems everything is just on the surface and deep inside; we cannot face the main cause of our health problems which is healthy diet.

Remember the go, grow and glow foods back in grade school. Now that is really easy. Ample amount of carb source, a good serving of meat or any protein rich viand, and some veggies or fruits to complete the meal – healthy diets are important to keep our bodies in good working condition. Healthy eating and dieting allows a balance of nutrients in the body. When we eat junk food, it’s mostly comprised of calorie rich substances such as carbohydrates.

Health eating and diet plans should be part of our family goals. With healthy eating and diet, you need not lecture me on them. Doing that is detrimental to your health. The main objective of healthy eating and dieting is to replace junk with nutritional food.

With the right amount of each type of food, our bodies can easily recover from many different ailments. With the right types of foods, we will get antioxidants to height. You can eat as many as you want because food is made up of Korean. All of the stress related issues can cause more serious health risks. Always remember that after work, nothing beats a healthy eating diet such as home cooked meal.

Eating health should be a normal part for us. Click here for more healthy eating and diet plans or healthy eating diet.

It is rightly said that a healthy diet is the key to a long and disease free life. Fresh fruits, especially berries, are natural sources of all the essential vitamins and help individuals maintain a balanced diet.

Strawberries are one of the most delicious berries and are also highly nutritious. Individuals must make it a point to include it in their daily diet to ensure that they get all of their daily nutrients. Research shows us that an average individual requires almost 5 servings of fruit and vegetables per day. Most people do not even get half of this required amount and lose out on a healthy dietary intake.

Strawberries are a tasty way to improve your diet and can be consumed in many different ways, such as salads, smoothies or even by themselves. The great thing about Strawberries is that it is a fruit that contains a large number of vitamins, especially Vitamin C.

The fruit also contains antioxidants, which are responsible for cleansing the system and helping individuals remain healthy. These antioxidants are also responsible for the bright red color of the fruit. They are also known to fight free radicals which are known to cause cancer. These berries also possess Vitamin K, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6 and Riboflavin, among others.

Blueberries are also highly beneficial for individuals who want to include a healthy component in their diet. A recent study has shown that this fruit has properties that are capable of reducing blood cholesterol levels and lower the risk of heart disease & diabetes.

Blueberries are also ideal for weight loss, and therefore a smart addition to any daily diet. They also help improve the immune system, thereby reducing a person’s susceptibility to colds, fevers and other bacterial ailments. Another instance where these berries contribute to healthy living is in improving vision and helping individuals maintain good eyesight. They help delay ocular problems that are caused with advanced age and enable individuals to maintain better vision for a longer time.

It is important to know how to choose the best berries in order to ensure that you have fresh produce. While buying blueberries, it is important to make sure that the fruit is firm. There are several online sources that will provide you with high quality fresh fruits like blueberries. Before purchasing from any store you should be aware of the store’s reputation and ensure that you will receive only the highest quality fresh berries. Fresh fruits are an ideal part of your diet and there are many ways to incorporate them into all of your favorite recipes for healthy and delicious meals.

I consider myself an evolving omnivore; a lifelong student of nutrition. I love good tasting, healthy, and nutritious food! In the last 20 years I have tried and experimented with macrobiotics, veganism, vegetarianism, pescatarianism and today I really know what works for me. I now put more energy and intention on eating more locally and sustainably; doing my best to eat clean and conscious. When it comes to well-being and the perfect diet, there is no one size fits all way to eat. We are blessed with bio-chemical individuality. To a certain extent you need to be somewhat of an adventurer and investigator to discover what feeds you best. Keeping a food journal along with how you feel physically and emotionally can certainly help you discover which foods really work for you and which ones make you a little crazy, cranky or just plain uncomfortable.

The Mediterranean diet is a great place to start. This diet emphasizes non-inflammatory foods including wild caught fish, nuts, legumes, olive oil, colorful vegetables, whole grains, local fruits, and to a lesser extent, humanely raised and harvested poultry, pork and beef; oh, and of course, wine (or red grape juice). The Mediterranean style of eating is supported in the scientific literature. Evidence shows that a Mediterranean diet may help lower the risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and certain cancers. Naturally rich in fiber, antioxidants, and healthy fats, going Mediterranean should cover most all of your New Year’s healthy diet intentions. Calorie–wise, it’s all about portions, no matter what type of diet regime you follow. A recent study published in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that the Mediterranean diet was more effective for weight loss than a low fat diet. Hopefully you’re feeling hungry for great vitality and well-being and you are inspired to make this year the beginning of a sustainable journey towards the ever-evolving you!

What is your present diet…way of living? Diet comes from the Greek word diaita, which means, way of life. Clinically and personally I have seen that it is nearly impossible to sustain and thrive with a healthy diet alone; that is, in the absence of a healthy way of life. They are meant to work together. A healthy diet is integrally connected to a healthy outlook, positive daily rituals and experiences of movement, service, community, intimacy, friendship creativity and purpose. Almost magically when your world is intentionally full with these practices your diet tends to be full of nourishment and satisfaction. Simply put, when your life is sweeter you tend to want less sugar.

To make good on your healthy eating intentions this year consider stocking your day and life with these primary forms of nourishment before you stock your fridge and pantry: deep friendships, unbridled play, purposeful work and/or service, spiritual connection and community (no additives, no preservatives and nothing artificial).

To thrive each and every day you have an opportunity to put these empowering practices to work for you:

-Feed your head first, your body second, and your emotions last. Whole-food nutrition naturally creates a chemical expression of confidence, balance and optimism. When your mind is fed well by eating real food, healthy food, and not skipping meals or snacks, your whole being is in a state of greater hormonal happiness. Strive to eat a whole food meal and/or balanced snack approximately every 3 hours throughout the day.

-Become a morning person and eat your breakfast! Breakfast eaters are the healthiest people around. They have lower rates of heart disease and obesity along with greater levels of productivity, energy and positivity.

-Add nutritious foods rather than delete the not so nutritious choices. Your body chemistry will “adjust” and begin to want healthier foods over the junk. For example, instead of snacking on a giant bag of potato chips, consider crunching on some celery topped with almond butter or peanut butter.

-Embrace health-affirming rituals that inspire and nourish you. Confidence and conviction grow every time you follow-thru and make good on your good intentions.

-Water your happiness. Our bodies are more than 75% water. Dehydration makes us more tired and hungry and as a result we often crave sugar and caffeine when instead we should be having a glass of water.

-Sweat your prayers daily with mindful movement and exercise. Dance, play, jump, hoola hoop –whatever moves you personally; it’s all good for your mind and body, memory and emotions. Exercise lowers stress, lifts positivity and raises every role you play in life, be it parent, spouse, teacher, friend, lover.

-Be grateful. Keep a gratitude journal and be healthier. Research suggests that this practice, combined with healthy eating and exercise, keeps us happier and healthier.

This month you may be romanced by a myriad of sexy and non-sustainable diets that promise results in mere days. Our egos and ‘lesser self’ love the idea of a quick fix or radical intervention to heal bellies and butts gone bad. To realize your greatest mission and life expression, get clear about what you are truly hungry for; greater peace, conviction with purpose and creative connection These experiences will nourish you greater than any one food or diet. Nourish and support your life with a clean, whole and sustainable eating and living plan. Trust that you are ready to take your body and your life from average to amazing. Balance is the path and the journey is most delicious.

By Lacy J. Hansen for DietsInReview.com

Every year brings its fads and trends to the health world and 2011 was no exception. Its possible that 2011 was dedicated to the over-scheduled, yet highly educated. Good solid fitness and diet information was more accessible than ever, and the ever-present excuse of being too busy for exercise was hard to use thanks to all the options that were available. Before 2012 brings its new trends, heres a look back at some of the hot health topics of 2011.

Gluten-Free Diets were no longer an obscurity of health food stores. 2011 brought the mass labeling of major food brands products. Walking the cereal aisle and reading gluten free is now a common sight. Celiac disease and gluten intolerance affects more than three million people and is a disorder that has received much more understanding this year. The disease or intolerance affects the digestive process due to gluten, the protein found in wheat, rye, and barley, and has afflicted many for a long time. Due to more research and mass publicity, living on a gluten-free diet was easier than ever in 2011.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) robbed many of excuses in 2011. It became possible to get intense and effective workouts this year in as little as 20 minutes. With programs such as P90X, Insanity, Jillian Michaels, and the new PINK Method many people were reaching their goals. HIIT focuses on a quick burst of intense exercise followed by brief periods of recovery. These brief series of exercises often replace the typical hour of cardio and weights in a traditional gym. Many found that in about 20 minutes they could get a fantastic workout and burn lots of calories. Twenty minutes in your living room verses an hour at the gym is hard to combat with excuses.

Health and Fitness Apps helped so many achieve their goals in 2011. Perhaps it was the year of the smart phone as its rare to find someone who doesnt have a computer right in their pocket. While theyre useful for checking Twitter and Facebook, they also became an alternative to nutritionists and personal trainers this year. With countless fitness apps that can track your workouts and a plethora of apps that can track your calories and nutrition we all became much more informed.

Alternative Diets allowed us to accept no excuses in 2011. This year the public made it clear we want to know what were eating. We want to know where it came from and what process it went through before it was served to us and our children. As a result, many were frustrated with the over-processing our food goes through and began their unique journeys on raw diets, juicing diets, vegan diets, and the Paleo diet, or caveman diet.

As the public learned of many food and product recalls such as ground turkey, melon, and even Tylenol, a rise in more local consumption resulted. If the processing plant, or the middle man, is skipped there is less question about where our food came from. Farmers markets, and local farms saw a spike in popularity for products such as produce, meat, and eggs.

2011 was a busy year, but it seems we found a way to still make the best of our health. Information was literally at our fingertips along with effective resources. Heres to 2012 breaking down even more health barriers and being our happiest and healthiest yet!

The best healthy lifestyle diet plan will let you to focus on your health, although still enjoying foods that are not only beneficial for you but additionally taste excellent! Most people do not wish to begin eating healthy considering they do not think nutritious foods taste well. In fact, I used to be that way. I love sweets and the thought of eating fruits and vegetables as a snack instead of having a donut was brutal. I didn’t think it was possible to adjust the way I eat and genuinely end up enjoying it. But I did!

So what happened to help change my thoughts concerning consuming healthy? To start, I required a reason to actually want to do it. I was overweight and knew that if I continued the path I was on I would have a lot of health problems and not live the best life I knew was possible. So I started eating nutritious foods and started this good workout routine. In the process I lost 40 pounds over the course of 6 months and I felt excellent! I learned what I should be eating and not consuming. I also learned to contain the dedication required to remain away from sugary foods and take pleasure in carrots for a snack. All this was, was a shift in my mindset and what I wanted to produce.

A healthy lifestyle diet plan should consist of consuming much of fruits and vegetables although additionally having plenty of lean protein in your meal plan. When you go to the grocery stick to the perimeter of the store whilst shopping. as soon as you think about it, most of the items that are in the aisles consist of foods in a bag or box that are unhealthy for you. You could find plenty of nutritious foods around the perimeter, including those yummy carrots, lean animal protein, eggs, and low-fat dairy goods. This is where you must be focusing a lot of your healthy lifestyle choices.

Once you start making better eating decisions, your taste buds will start to grow used to these refreshing foods and you may actually begin enjoying a number of them. When we constantly consume foods high in sugar or salt, the taste buds get distorted and we do not realize what really is a well tasting food because of the overpowering sensations our tongue is used to. There are many fruits which I wouldn’t have eaten before and I gave many excuses not to east, however now I like them. I could take a juicy peach and consume it just like an apple and I love it!

You’re additionally going to need to remain consistent with your healthy lifestyle diet plan. Saying that you are going to eat healthy today and then grabbing a greasy 800 calorie burger tomorrow is not going to work. Now, I do suggest taking one meal a week and utilizing that as a “cheat meal” where you can eat something that would not have on your healthy meal plan. Just don’t take it too far and eat 2,000 calories in that one sitting. this cheat meal is to help keep you sane but additionally to reward you for a job well done during the week and to give you something to eat that might not be healthy, but which you do enjoy.

Living this healthy life is extremely important and there are many benefits of a healthy lifestyle. You can enjoy living longer with less sickness whilst doing things that are helpful to your household and the rest of the world. it is probable to get there with a good healthy lifestyle diet plan.

Utilizing a number of healthy tips may prove extremely helpful for your health. In fact, should you have kids it could be important if you utilize a healthy lifestyle for kids so that they grow up living strong and vibrant lives.

One of the things wrong with dieting is that there are a lot of restrictions imposed that include reducing or eliminating health food options for the sake of losing weight. High protein, low carb diets are particularly notorious for encouraging dieters to eat in a way that is not nutritionally sound so as to lose weight in the short term. The problem is that once you’ve lost some weight and start to eat a normal diet again you’ve got a 95% chance of putting weight back on again.

A better option than restrictive diets is to look at diets that encourage you to eat highly nutritious food in balance. One of the best diets that follow this approach is known as the Prasouda diet or Mediterranean diet. This diet encourages you to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy oils like olive oil, legumes, nuts, fish and moderate amounts of red meats, grains and dairy products. It also encourages a little wine now and again, so there’s something in it for everyone.

What the diet doesn’t do is say how much of anything you can and can’t eat or how often you should eat. It is a sensible culture of healthy eating that is encouraged rather than a strict ‘program’. While it originated in focusing on the kinds of fruits and vegetables available and widely consumed in the Mediterranean it has evolved to encourage consumption of locally sourced ingredients and home gardening.

While in some instances a health professional might recommend a specific type of restrictive diet to boost your weight loss efforts, ultimately you are not going to be living like this forever and the most important thing about long term management of a person’s weight is the type of food you eat consistently in your life. Everyone eats something unhealthy now and again, but there needs to be an underlying commitment to fresh nutritious food as a foundation for living a healthy life.

The Prasouda diet is one of the best forms of encouragement for dieters to get off the yo-yo routine of losing weight fast and putting it back on just as quickly. This isn’t good for your health and well-being and should be replaced with something better for you and more enjoyable to do. Of course, there is more to losing weight than diet. Exercise is an essential part of the process and so is motivation. So celebrate your successes and make a habit of sharing your weight loss tips with others to help and mentor them on their journeys.

But new findings in a study performed by Consumer Reports show that Dr. Oz was right all along—and another study fresh from Dartmouth shows that high levels of arsenic can also be found in rice.

When Dr. Oz initially made the claim that arsenic can be found in juices on his popular daytime show, the FDA quickly responded by calling Dr. Oz’s study flawed because it did not separate out measurements of inorganic and organic arsenic. Inorganic arsenic has been linked to serious health problems, including many cancers. Organic arsenic, however, is widely considered to be safe. In a Nov. 29 email to Dr. Oz, the FDA admitted he was right:
The FDA says it’s researching the new evidence suggesting the majority of arsenic in apple juice is inorganic. In addition, the FDA told The Dr. Oz Show that there are two forms of organic arsenic in apple juice that are potentially harmful.

But the investigation from Consumer Reports reports that most of the arsenic they found in juices was, in fact, inorganic and that the total levels were higher than what the FDA allows in water. What’s more, many researchers still aren’t convinced that organic arsenic is any safer than inorganic, because it has the potential to convert into the inorganic form in the soil.

Intensifying the debate are new data that show that rice is possibly a significant source of arsenic in pregnant women, and can be linked to low birth weight and infant mortality. Rice is particularly susceptible to contamination because it can extract the arsenic directly from its environment.

While neither study reports on health outcomes, the findings have created a buzz around the FDA and the systems in place to monitor the levels of toxins in our food. Inorganic arsenic has been associated with bladder problems, lung disease, and several types of cancer, in addition to an increased risk of heart disease, immune deficiencies, and diabetes. Long-term exposure , and many are now calling for a closer look at the way we screen juices and other foods.

Tell Us: What do you think? Will these new finding change the way you and your family eat? Will you avoid fruit juices until the FDA changes its methods?
