How Do You Choose Your Quilt? Look at how much warmth you need.

• Warmth Rating 1 To 2….. Do you usually wake up boiling hot with your quilt at the bottom of the bed? In that case, choose a quilt with Warm Rating 1 or 2. If you like to get up in a warm bedroom, or prefer thin cool quilts, these are also ideal.
• Warmth Rating 3 To 4…. If you tend to feel a bit chilly, but get too hot under a thick quilt, you should choose from this category. Warmth Rating 3 To 4 is also ideal if you like sleeping in a room that’s neither too cold nor too hot.
• Warmth Rating 5 To 6…. Do you pull your quilt right up over your head but still shiver? If so, a quilt with a Warm Rating of 5 To  6 is a good choice. These quilts are also perfect for snuggling down in cool bedrooms.
• Warmth Rating 1+3……. How about a quilt that can make you warmer when you’re cold and cooler when you’re hot? And that suits all room temperature? Warmth Rating 1+3 consists of a cool thin summer quilt and a slightly thicker one. They are easy to attach to each other, giving you an extra warm and thick quilt for very cold nights.

How do you choose your pillow?   Consider the way you sleep.

• If you are a side sleeper……….. You will sleep best on a high pillow. This aligns your head and neck with your spine. It enables you to lie straight and really relax.
• If you are a back sleeper……….. A pillow of medium height is best. This gives your head and neck the support they need so that your whole body can totally relax.
• If you are a stomach sleeper…. Sleep best on a low pillow. This reduces pressure on your neck and muscle tension.

Pillow Material Choice

• Synthetic fibres…. Synthetic quilts / pillows made of polyester are extremely easy to care for and last a long time. Small holes in the fibres allow air to circulates and retain heat in the quilt, while hollow fibre balls in pillows allow air to circulate so that moisture is absorbed more quickly.
• Down / feathers…. Down / feathers quilts / pillows are soft and comfortable to rest on. They are excellent at absorbing away moisture from the body. They also retain heat to keep you warm. Down makes the quilt / pillow fluffy, while feathers create resilience.
• Cellulose fibres…. Some of the synthetic quilts / pillows contain cellulose fibres derived from wood. These fibres are very breathable and effective in absorbing away moisture to keep you warm and dry.
