Likemind 16042010 Gathering

Around 7.00PM I have arrived at Prima Setapak. I called Zoey a few times but she did not answer. Later she called me to ask me where I am at the moment. I said I am in front of Taj Corner (owned by Leng Yein) and she said will be coming down soon.

When she sat in my car, I told her that I need to fetch Jacquelyn too as her friend have been oversea, so she have no transport to go to Likemind Gathering.

Zoey told me that Eric and Raymond have planned to eat Laksa at Old Klang Road but I afraid that we can’t make it as it will be very jammed during that time. Zoey then called Raymond to inform him of our situation. Finally they need to cancel the plan. Raymond then suggested that we have our dinner at the Malay stall opposite to the OldTown White Coffee.

We arrived there around 8.20PM and I let Zoey and Jacquelyn to go down first while I parked the car inside the car park. Then I joined them for dinner. We then joined the rest of Likemind members around 9.00PM

As usual, we started off introducing our self, exchanged name card, chatting & discussing. Carolina and her friends came around 9.40PM. We all left the OldTown White Coffee at around 12.00PM

The Likemind initiative brings like-minded people from more than 60 cities around the globe together on the third Friday of each month to share ideas, enjoy coffee and network face to face. Yes, it’s a chapter found various countries likewise from it’s origins in the US of A.

Interestingly, I found-out from Remus that Malaysia is one unique ‘party’ where instead of meeting like-minded friends-to-be in a Starbucks, there’s an alternative franchise coffee-place right in Old Town White Coffee as our current ‘hot-spot’.

Likemind meetings doesn’t have structure; they are free, organic and without agenda. Participants exchange ideas, projects, tips, and contacts, while also discussing around what’s happening in their cities, the ‘net, art, business, and culture.

The initiative came from trend consultant Piers Fawke from PSFK and Noah Brier, the head of strategic planning at the Barbarian Group in New York. They have been gathering creative minds for over two years under the simple and powerful idea of Likemind meetings.

All are welcome. Bring along your business cards and get ready to share ideas.

The conditions to participate.

  1. You must have facebook account (optional) – The reason to have the facebook account is because
    • It is the only tool organiser communicate with members (ie about next coming gathering, latest news, upload events pictures etc)

  3. Respond to their event invitation. (Gathering is fix on every 3rd Friday of the Month)

Can You Believe This?

After I drop off Carolina at her place, I drove back. I have stopped a while at Shell Petrol Kiosk (Karak Highway) to borrow the WC and then have a dinner at McDonald’s nearby. A set of McNuggets (with Fried & Coca Cola) plus a cup of Strawberry Sundaes.

As I going to leave, I noticed that it is just 6.35PM and I guessed I still managed to buy Sport Toto and Magnum 4D Jackpot on time when I reach Taman Melawati. Well I still have the Millionaire dream. Never try never know your chance.

I reached Taman Melawati at 6:45PM Yes! It is true that I managed to buy both of these draws. Then as I am on the way back to Wangsa Maju I drop by Carrefour to buy something.

I took a notebook (RM 6.90) and a loaf of bread. When I looked at the price, it is unbelievable! RM 0.99? Really? Since the price hike on food items  recently (it can go up all the time and can never come down) it is impossible to find a loaf of bread that is around RM 1.00! Some more this is wholemeal bread. Do you believe that? I have to as the price is already there. As far as I knew, normal wholemeal bread can easily come to RM 3 or RM 4!

Well, I decided to buy it as I already have my dinner (just in case night time hungry still have something light to eat) When I walked to the Express Counter to make payment, I should pay (RM 6.90 + RM 0.99 = RM  7.90) but the bar coded scanned these items to total  RM 9.30 (RM 8.30 + RM 0.99 = RM 9.30) I asked the staff how much the notebook, he said RM 8.30 but I pointed to him that the sticker printed as RM 6.30! He called his supervisor to check and when the guy went, he never come back. I have waited there for 15 minutes but the supervisor never turned up. I am damn frustrated and told the cashier that I no longer want the notebook and I goes back home with the RM 1 bread.

Sepang Gold Coast

The view from one of the restaurant

Sepang Gold Coast, this place have been here a long time, but this is the first time Carolina & I have stepped our legs here. If not because of visiting & touring the Bagan Lalang Soft Shell Crabs Agrotech Farming, I guessed I won’t be here. I have seen the picture on the leaflet, from the web site… finally I am here to look at it with my own eyes. Wow! So nice! White sandy soft sand beach. When you stepped on it, it feel like stand on fluffy carpet Smile

From the air view, you can mistakenly think its part of Dubai but it is not. This is in Sepang Gold Coast, Selangor Darul Eshan, Malaysia. You mean “Small Dubai” ? I still think small did not fit properly, maybe “Tiny Dubai Of Malaysia”

These chalets will be officially open on June 2010 onwards. Soon it will be one place of attraction in Malaysia for the tourism industry.

ICS – Soft Shell Crabs

This crab is so strong and solid when its outer shell is hard. The claws can even break a plastic pen and make a hole on PVC pipe when it snap on it. Normal habitat of crab is…. it will leave it original shell within 60 days to grow 2 to 3x of it original size. During this time 100 % of it body is soft. High technology allow it to be freeze to produce Soft Shell Crabs and you can eat it 100% (meat + shell) without the need to throw away the harden shell. It it such a waste as you bought it expensively in kilos but you just manage to eat about only 40% of the crabs. Does it sound good if you can eat it all? Smile

Soft Shell Crabs. How it was produce? It need to be freeze to maintain it softness. If not, the shell will automatically became hard again after 4 hours.
